WIND WAKER CAKE
This delicious confection perfectly captures a lot of elements from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. This birthday cake for Sonia Neiers’ niece has a lot more details than the Little Cherry Cake Company’s version of a Wind Waker cake like having Ganondorf as well as Link’s sister Aryll.
INSTAGRAM USED TO BRING VIDEO GAMES INTO LIFE
We’ve seen plenty of 8bit IRL before, but Mel Marcelo’s series brings a new twist.
He uses Instagram to take the photos and then photoshops in the 8bit awesome, creating some really impressive images that look stunningly realistic.
Some personal favorites are Link in the Apple store and the characters from Wild Gunmen hanging out in the Taco Bell. Both are great examples of the subtle details Mel infuses into his designs, like creating pixelated shadows, to make the images look virtually realistic.
Visit Mel’s Instagram to see his complete collection of 8bit goodness.

MAJORA’S MASK
Since our interview with him last June, we’ve known that Barret Biggers is a juggernaut of talent. His latest design for Majora’s Mask though sets a new standard for his talent that all preceding designs will be compared to—it’s as striking as it is creepy.
Prints of Majora’s Mask, as well as many of his other designs, can be purchased on Etsy.

MORE VIDEO GAME COSPLAYERS FROM COMIC CON
Here’s the last of the video game themed cosplayers we saw during last weekend’s Wizard World Comic Con. It’s another great mix of old and new age games represented in costumed fans.
HYLIAN BANK NOTES
I guess if you save the kingdom enough times, it’d make sense that your face would be on the currency, at least that’s what deviantARTist Ash envisions.
Each bank note was designed based on what Ash thought would be appropriate for a modern day Hyrule. If you like these notes and want to see more, be sure to comment on Ash’s deviantART page. He’s contemplating a $100 note and will make one if enough people are interested.
PHOTOSET FROM WIZARD WORLD COMIC CON IN PORTLAND PART 2
Day 2 of Wizard World Comic Con brought a full day of activities, panels and amazing sights to behold. Cosplayers were in full mass with tons of great costumes, we explored every merchandise vendor and artist booth for interesting finds and an arcade machine from a movie made Day 2 especially fun (more on that in a future post).
THE FIRST BATTLE
Do you remember the first time you played The Legend of Zelda and that moment you reached the final boss and realized all your troubles stemmed from some distant relative of Zuckerman’s famous pig? It was Epic.
What’s your favorite Zelda moment? We’d love to hear it!
