ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES COLLECTOR’S EDITION UNBOXING
Today we have a closer look into the contents in Gearbox Software and Sega’s Aliens: Colonial Marines Collector’s Edition. Included in this special edition:
- a copy of the game
- a highly detailed resin statue of a Colonial Marine in a Powerloader fighting an Alien
- Schematics of the USS Sephora
- 2 USCM Iron-on Badges
- USCM Graduation Certificate replica
- USCM Dossier of replica information documents
- DLC codes for multiplayer characters, weapons, an unlockable USCM Academy Firing Range, a bonus level
The whole packaging is patterned with a swarm of Aliens climbing into the see-thur plastic windows to attack at the Resin Powerloader statue which is eye catching. The top of the box is also patterned to look like steel grating much like the corridors in the films and game.
The statue is the main prize inside this collector’s edition and it’s extermely detailed. No moving parts but the cables behind the Powerloader are flexible and rubberized in texture for a sort of realistic touch.
The top of the Powerloader also has a clear yellow plastic fixture for the flashing emergency light but sadly it doesn’t light up or power on at all. That’s one thing that would have pushed this neat swag into incredible collectible.
The included DLC codes provide a lot of extra bang for your buck if you’re looking to spend a lot of time in multiplayer but otherwise they’re just cosmetic nostalgia for Aliens film fans.
It’s not a bad Collector’s Edition but it’s primarily for fans of the film who are excited for a game adaptation of the property. It’s lacking an art book or anything on the making of the game which would have been nice since Gearbox spent a lot of time crafting an original story to add to the canon universe of Aliens.
Aliens: Colonial Marines Collector’s Edition is $99.99 and is available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. They are available in some retail stores and online at places like Amazon.
