AN UPDATE ON THE STATUS OF THE OUYA GAME CONSOLE
Recently, the team behind the Ouya provided an update on the latest development of their new console. A picture of the PCB (the Printed Circuit Board) was even released to show that the console is on track for next year’s release and is entering the next phase in production (Engineering Verification Testing).
Also announced, was news that the console is no longer running Ice Cream Sandwich for the operating system but instead has been updated to Jelly Bean to support the newest hardware and firmware for Android.
This is significant because many were concerned that the firmware for the console would be outdated compared to other Android devices. It’s nice to see the developers could address that concern so fast and during crucial development of the console.
Also of note, after a survey was sent out last month for backers to setup their unique usernames for the Ouya console network, over 60,700 provided credentials and setup accounts during the open survey time frame.
